Clarke Goes ‘Into the Streets’ for Service Day, Sept. 15

posted on September 12, 2007

Approximately 200 members of the Clarke College community will spend Saturday, Sept. 15, serving in the Dubuque area as part of “Into the Streets,” the College’s semi-annual service day. The event is organized by the College’s campus ministry office.

Into the Streets is designed to introduce more students to thoughtful community service and to provide a learning experience that will challenge them to volunteer on a regular basis.  Each year, thousands of College students participate in Into the Streets programs in communities throughout the country.

This year, the Clarke groups will volunteer at various organizations in the Dubuque area, including: Area Residential Care, Camp Albrecht Acres, the Dubuque County Historical Society, Dubuque Main Street Limited, the Dubuque Regional Human Society, Hills and Dales Residential Center, Hospice of Dubuque, Kennedy Elementary School, Shalom Retreat Center and the Sisters of the Presentation, among others.

Groups will gather at Clarke Saturday morning at 8 a.m. to receive their service location, where they will work from 9 a.m.-noon. Media are invited to cover this service day. For additional information or a complete list of service sites, please contact Mike Cyze at (563)588-6318 or atmike.cyze@clarke.edu.
