'Sonict Duo' to Perform at Clarke, Feb. 19

posted on January 27, 2009

The Clarke College Music Department will host a performance by music ensemble “Sonict Duo” on Thursday, February 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Jansen Music Hall on the Clarke campus. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

Sonict Duo was formed in 2005 with a goal of sonic exploration in new media and aesthetic style. The duo focuses on works that combine saxophone, video, and live electronic audio performance to create music of the highest performative, artistic and emotional caliber.

Their repertoire is drawn from a combination of commissions, existing works and newly-created work by Sonict. Members of the duo have been involved in concerts and festivals throughout North America, Europe, Asia and South America. Sonict has recently performed at Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center, the Third Practice Festival, UW-Milwaukee’s Unruly Music series, and at The Stone in NY as part of a solo Jeff Herriott concert.

The duo has also held residencies featuring master classes and performances at Augustana College, the College at Buffalo, Eastman School of Music, and Nazareth College. In spring 2009, in addition to their Clarke College performance, Sonict has planned residencies at UMKC, the Kansas City Art Institute, and Iowa State College.
