When it comes to the college experience, Clarke student Tia Grap runs the gamut. Always embracing new experiences with a smile on her face, she plans a reelection bid in student government and one day might command the mic as resident Crusader DJ. With a future this bright, she better wear shades.
Talk about settling in to campus.
My most memorable Clarke experience has been CONNECT week at the beginning of the last year. The first few days I was so overwhelmed by being in college, but I got to know so many people that I am still friends with.
The activities there were so fun, especially AIRBAND. My friend and I choreographed the whole thing for our group and had such a blast. Fake instruments are serious business.
How have you been involved at Clarke?
I was nominated vice president of the freshman class last year.
I really love the campaigning part – posters, Facebook groups, talking to people. A friend in my class, Josh Hall, wants to run with me next year. We are doing posters again hopefully because I have a whole bunch of ideas. It’s probably my favorite thing about running. Get ready!
Now that you’re a head honcho, what’s next?
I love plays and I was going to minor in drama. I think I’m going to audition for the next show. I really want to do radio in Dubuque because that’s what my mom did. There are talks of the student station come back and since I am communications major that would work out well.
What about after Clarke?
My dream job is a celebrity publicist. Taylor Lautner would be my number one client. I have a ton of Taylor Lautner posters.
