“Living the same thing over and over again is mundane.”
When it comes to new experiences, Shaun Jones collects them like souvenirs. Cultures, countries – you name it – Shaun is a student motivated by discovery.
His wandering spirit began after moving to Iowa during high school. He found new friends and enrolled in community college. After a couple years, opportunity had reached its limit. Then Shaun found Clarke.
“There are a ton of opportunities here,” he said. “Clarke is also a family to me. I’m a commuter student and already have friends. Everyone is very accepting and willing to learn about you.”
But Shaun is never content staying still. As a communication major and Spanish minor, he will be putting his language skills to good use when he studies abroad in Granada, Spain. It will go towards his personal pact to travel somewhere new every year.
With a study abroad program designed for a month and a half of travel, Shaun will no doubt fulfill his annual quota – and then some.
“I really embrace change. Some fear it. I search for it,” he said.
