Clarke Presents For a Blessed Christmas, Dec. 9-10

The Clarke College Arts at Clarke Silver Series and the Clarke College Music Department will present “For a Blessed Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 9, and Sunday, Dec. 10, in Sacred Heart Chapel on the Clarke campus. The Saturday performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., the Sunday performance will begin at 3 p.m.

Admission is $10 and tickets can be reserved beginning Monday, Nov. 20, on-line at www.clarke.edu/artsatclarke or by calling (563)584-8642 weekdays between 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Quickly becoming a Clarke College holiday tradition, the musicians of Clarke College will portray the Christmas story through an exciting mix of narration and musical performances.

This year’s concert will feature guest soloist Clarke Associate Professor of Music John Lease. As a performer, he has traveled throughout the world, including performances in Europe, Japan and the famed Carnegie Hall. Over the years, he has been a frequent soloist with the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. Lease has led international choir tours around the world, including trips to Japan, Hong Kong, China, Austria, Italy, India, Poland and more.

Lease joined the Clarke music department since 1971. Prior to joining the Clarke faculty, he taught vocal music at Wahlert High School, Allamakee Community High School and Lisbon Community Schools. He continues to serve as a voice consultant for Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.

Lease holds a bachelor’s degree from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, and a master’s degree from the College of Wisconsin – Platteville.
