Clarke Professor Named Most Valuable

JGeorge Towficuly 3, 2013:  A Clarke University faculty member has won the 2013 Most Valuable Professors Competition, hosted by Questia.

George Towfic, a professor of computer science, was recently named one of three winners who will have $2,500 scholarships awarded in their name by Questia. He will be part of the team that selects the scholarship recipients.

College students throughout the country were asked to nominate their favorite professor, beginning March 28. George Towfic was nominated by a Clarke student who took one of his computer science courses. Towfic was one of more than 100 professors who were nominated before three were selected in online polling.

"I am humbled and honored to accept Questia's generous offer to establish a scholarship award in my name,” said Towfic. “This award adds a significant value to the joy and excitement I get every day working with my students. It has special meaning for me as a Clarke University educator since Clarke puts a special value on close student-instructor relationships. I would like to thank my students for their trust in me and for the time and effort they put in submitting their nomination.”

“Professor Towfic is a wonderful example of the kind of caring faculty we have at Clarke. We are proud that his students have nominated him for this recognition,” said Joan Lingen, Ph.D., BVM, provost and vice president for academic affairs.

Questia is an online commercial digital library of books and articles with an academic orientation, with a particular emphasis on books and journal articles in the humanities and social sciences.
