Amy and Todd Schendel, Elaina Burns to Perform at Clarke

August 21, 2013 Amy Schendel, trumpet, and Todd Schendel, trombone, will perform in concert with Elaina Burns, piano, on Tuesday, Aug. 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Clarke University in Jansen Music Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The recital will feature works arranged and written for trumpet, trombone and piano by Edvard Grieg, Alexandre Glazunov, Daniel Kallman, Jiri Pauer and Howard Cable.

Amy Schendel is a trumpet professor at the University of Iowa who currently plays with the Iowa Brass Quintet and Contrapunctus Brass Trio.

Todd Schendel’s first solo and chamber music album, “Full Power,” was released in 2010, featuring Abe Lincoln’s Song Book, written by Douglas Hill for the Contrapunctus Brass Trio and narration.

Burns, a collaborative pianist at Clarke University and the University of Dubuque and an active chamber musician, has founded the annual Celebration of Chamber Music to be held at Clarke University in September. She serves on the keyboard staff at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and lives in Dubuque with her husband and frequent collaborator, conductor Brian Burns, and their son, Daniel.
