Admitted Student Weekend Session Descriptions

Dynamic Dubuque
Dubuque is a safe, welcoming, vibrant community that offers many benefits to Crusaders who study here. Recreation, internships, safety, shopping and culture – combined with an infusion of young professionals and 18,000 college students – provide an environment to enhance your out-of-class experience.  Come and learn about the city Clarke calls home and why it’s a great place to live and go to school.

Put Me In Coach!
Calling all future Crusader student-athletes, this session is for you! Come learn why Clarke is dedicated to pushing athletes to be all-star students in addition to being all-star athletes.  Hear from our coaches about student-athlete expectations, learn how to be NAIA eligible and what your next steps are to be a fellow Crusader.  You will also have the chance to ask a current Crusader what it’s like to be a student-athlete at Clarke.

Oh The Places You’ll Go!
Looking to give back to the community or be involved in an once-in-a-lifetime experience?  Come find out about all the possibilities that Clarke has to offer within our Study Abroad and Campus Ministry programs.   Clarke’s Campus ministry programs are open to all students, no matter their faith tradition.  The opportunities for study abroad at Clarke are endless; whether it is to travel to Spain, England or Scotland (to name a few), or participate in one of our retreats or service opportunities . . . this session is for YOU!

Connecting the Dots – From Major to Internship to Career
What do you want to be when you grow up? Don’t worry if you don’t know – most college kids don’t – but we can help you figure it out!  The Career Services Office offers tools and resources regardless if you have a major or are still trying to pick one.  Plus we can identify prized employment skills and help you find internships, which are jobs in your area of interest that are essential to landing a great career. Learn about all of the things we can do to help you throughout your time at Clarke not just your senior year.

Campus Digs!
This is your one-stop-shop to learn about three of the most important things on Clarke’s camps: Food, Dorm life, and Clarke Gear! Feel the heat as Miles Breed, Clarke’s Head Chef takes you down a culinary journey that will leave you starving, drooling, and ready for lunch! Next, Sarah Merz, the Director of the Campus Store will highlight all our new Clarke swag, the benefits of having a mailbox on campus, and of course books. Did we mention they have the best coffee on campus?! Lastly, Kevin Utt, Director of Residence Life will discuss the ins-and-outs of living in the dorms and will have you wanting to move on campus next week (sorry, you need to wait until August 21ST for that).

The Summer Between
So what do with your summer after graduating high school, but before going to college? Besides enjoy a great couple of months off, there is paperwork to be filled out, roommates to meet, dorm rooms to shop for,  and at least one more Clarke campus visit in June for CORE Registration to register for classes. We will walk you through the next few steps including when to get your physical, what paperwork goes where (including some specifics for student athlete NAIA eligibility), and what to expect during CORE Registration and CONNECT (the New Student Orientation before classes begin).

Tools for Success: A look at Technology/Learning Center/MARC
Not only is picking the right school important in being successful, it’s important to know how that school will help you be effective & at Clarke we’ve got you covered! Come and learn about how Clarke’s technology will arm you with the necessary tools to make sure you can tackle any presentation. We’ll also talk about our Learning Center & MARC to help inform you on the accommodations and support Clarke offers students in the classrooms to be at the top of the class!
