2015 Scholarship Recipients


andrew Andrew Gates, Lancaster, Wisconsin
Andrew Gates, a graduate of Lancaster High School, played basketball and golf all four years of high school. He received Academic All-State honors from the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin in 2014 and helped the Lancaster golf team win its first state championship. Additionally, Andrew played first chair trumpet in the band, marching band and pep band and for the musical Cabaret. His volunteer activities included working with kindergarten students at Winskill Elementary and Little Arrows, a basketball program that teaches the sport’s fundamentals to rising stars.

Olivia Haack, Grand Mound, Iowa
Olivia Haack is a graduate of Central High School in DeWitt, Iowa, and has taken early college courses at Eastern Iowa Community College. In high school, she was a three-sport athlete, competing in volleyball (which she co-captained), softball and golf. She was a member of Future Business Leaders of America and the Honor Roll, maintaining a consistent grade-point average of 4.0. She performed with Central High’s choir group and volunteered with Saber Summer Volleyball Camp and Vacation Bible School.

Caroline Herrig, Bellevue, Iowa
Caroline Herrig is a graduate of Marquette Catholic High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society and was listed all four years on the High Honor Roll. Caroline was also the recipient of the American Citizenship Award, which is bestowed upon students who demonstrate a high level of character in school, community and faith. She was a two-sport athlete, competing in both softball and track and field, and was a member of the Spirit Club. She participated in the Big East Conference Art Show and the Bellevue Art Exhibit, where she won four first-place awards. She was an active member at St. Donatus Parish and volunteered with the Dubuque Humane Society.

Rachel Ihm, Lancaster, Wisconsin
Rachel Marie Ihm is a graduate of Lancaster High School and is currently enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College.  While in high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society all four years. She was involved in Forensics, the Leo Club, the French Club and the Spanish Club. She performed with the band, choir and cabaret. In addition, she was a 3-sport athlete, competing on the cross country (where she was named Rookie of the Year), basketball and volleyball teams. She worked with early childhood students through the SDPE Swimming program. She also led a religious retreat with Steubenville North and taught as a religion teacher at St. Clement Church, where she was also a very active member of the youth group. 

Erin Soat

Erin Soat, East Dubuque, Illinois

Erin Soat is a graduate of East Dubuque High School and was a member of the National Honor Society all four years, receiving high honors her junior and senior years. She was co-captain of her volleyball team and won the conference championship in the discus for her track team. In addition, Erin served on her class council and student body council and participated in the Drama Club. She is very involved with her church youth group and has participated in mission trips where she traveled to aid in community assistance. She was also a member of the Leo Club, a memorial service club for a slain classmate, and she volunteered as a tutor for at-risk elementary-aged children. Erin plans to major in Spanish at Clarke University in order to fulfill a career in communications and aide.  
Gabrielle Waddick, Dubuque, Iowa
Gabrielle Waddick is a graduate of Hempstead High School and has taken early college courses at University of Dubuque, Clarke University, Loras College and Northeastern Iowa Community College. She was elected by her peers to serve on Hempstead’s student senate all four years of high school and participated in the German Club in addition to receiving the AP Scholar with Honors award from the National College Board. For four years, Gabrielle served as the men’s sophomore and varsity basketball manager and volunteered for the Special Olympics. In addition, she co-captained Hempstead’s soccer team and competed with the cross country players. At Clarke, she will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a Master of Organization Leadership degree.
