SUMMER 2016 ACADEMY SCHEDULES


 
nursing cadets camp schedule

DROP OFF/ PICK UP **Note the location for Drop Off (CSI/Science Building)
We will start promptly at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, June 22nd.  There will be faculty waiting to greet the students at the entrance to the new Science Building.  It is the last building on the right hand side of Clarke Drive if you are heading east.  There is a turn around right in front of the building where you can pull up to drop off your child.  Pick up will be at 3:00pm on Wednesday and Thursday at the same location as drop off.

Wednesday and Thursday schedule:

Students will gain skills/practice in heart and lung sounds, ears, eyes, weight, height, baby assessment, use of a Doppler and injections.  Faculty will introduce students to our high fidelity simulator, and run through a simulation scenario.  As a part of the camp, students will also be educated and certified in First Aid and CPR.

Friday June 24th  -  Please drop off students to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque at 9:00 a.m. We will use the main patient entrance at Mercy.  Pick up time will be 12:00pm at Mercy on Friday.  Below please find the updated schedule of events for Friday, June 24th.

9:00 – Gather at Patient Entrance

9:15 – Colleen Walters – History of Mercy

9:30 – Nursing - Heather Wuebker – Overview of Nursing/Job, Demonstrate IV equipment, Show EMR Sample Patient

10:00 – Resp. Care – Over of RT/Show Bi-Pap machine

10:15 – Radiology – Overview of Radiology/Show some xrays/nuclear med scans (can you bring an light box to the room)

10:30 – Dietary – Overview of dietary role/Q&A on what various diets look like/# calories etc

10:45 – OT, PT, Speech –Overview Therapy/Empathy stations/Therapy equipment

11:15 –Wrap Up

11:15 – Treat in the Cafeteria (Clarke staff to supervise)

DRESS CODE
Each participant is encouraged to dress comfortably on Wednesday and Thursday.  Shorts are fine.  We will be staying at Clarke on those days.  On Friday, June 24th we ask that each participant dress comfortably as well, however, since we will be going to the hospital we request that students dress in either nice shorts and pants and a plain top, no t-shirts or short shorts.

Lunch is provided as part of the camp every day.
