Clarke Receives 'Great Schools, Great Prices' Recognition; Named Top-Tier School

posted on August 18, 2006

Clarke College is pleased to announce that the College was again recognized for outstanding quality and value as one of only 10 schools in its category to be named to the “Great Schools, Great Prices” ranking by U.S.News & World Report. Clarke moved up to number five on the list.

The ranking appeared in the 2007 edition of the magazine’s annual guidebook, “America’s Best Colleges.” The 2007 edition of “America’s Best Colleges” is available on-line today at www.usnews.com. The “Great Schools, Great Prices” ranking was announced in conjunction with Clarke again being named to the top tier of midwestern Colleges in the “Best Comprehensive Colleges-Bachelor’s” category.

“We understand that students and families make a significant investment to attend College,” said Clarke President Joanne M. Burrows, SC, Ph.D. “At Clarke, we strive to ensure the highest quality education while being reasonably priced. This recognition reaffirms our success in both excellence and affordability.”

This is the 14th year in a row Clarke has been named a top-tier school and this year, Clarke ranked 31st overall in its category.

According to U.S. News, “the formula used to determine which schools offer the best value relates a school’s academic quality, as indicated by its U.S. News ranking, to the net cost of attendance for a student who receives the average level of need-based financial aid. The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal. Only schools ranked in the top half of their categories are included, on the premise that the most significant values are among Colleges that are above average academically.”

U.S. News defines “Comprehensive Colleges-Bachelor’s” as institutions which focus on undergraduate education and offer a range of degree programs in the liberal arts, which account for fewer than half of their bachelor’s degrees, and in professional fields such as business, nursing, and education.
