Norm Freund, Ph.D., chair and professor of philosophy at Clarke College, has been selected to attend the 2006 Freeman Summer Institute to study and learn about Japan. The institute will be held at Tokai College in Honolulu, Hawaii, from May 21 through June 10.
The Japan Studies Association will conduct the three-week Freeman Foundation institute this summer to assist College professors increase their knowledge about Japan and Japanese culture. Freund plans to use information from the institute in his Asian Philosophy course. A grant from the Freeman Foundation will cover Freund’s tuition, books, room and most meals during the institute.
The Japan Studies Association (JSA) is an organization dedicated to the development of better understanding of Japan and Japanese culture. The JSA was founded in 1995 and seeks to develop a network and activity centers for Japan studies throughout the United States.
