Careers in Philosophy

Recent studies have shown that students of philosophy generally excel at a variety of transferable skills. These include problem solving, assessing pros and cons, organizing issues and ideas, communicating effectively, and reducing complex data to key concepts. As a result, study of philosophy is a tremendous asset to any career field. Students who minor or major in the discipline can both enhance their opportunities to obtain employment in the area of their choice and increase their mobility in the field as well. Career opportunities in philosophy include, but are not limited to: teaching, business, computers, publishing, law, government, and journalism.
