The Clarke College Music Department will present “Mozart Mania!” on Thursday, March 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Jansen Music Hall on the Clarke campus in celebration of Mozart’s 250th birthday. The performance will celebrate the life of Mozart while featuring some of the composer’s best-loved choral and instrumental works. Admission to the concert is free and the public is invited to attend.
Student clarinetist Colin McDaniel will perform the third movement of Mozart’s clarinet concerto and will also perform another Mozart piece in a Benny Goodman-style swingy arrangement. The Clarke Wind Ensemble will perform various selections as scenes from the movie “Amadeus” are shown.
The concert will also feature the Clarke Collegiate Singers performing a variety of pieces, including: “Kyrie” from Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor K.427; “Laudate Dominum” from Vesperae solennes de confessore K.339; as well as a few fun canons. The Clarke Cantabile Singers will perform “Alleluia” from Exaltate Jubilate.
