The Clarke College Biology Club will host this year’s Danielle Pierce Memorial Lecture, “Bi-polar Disorder: It’s an Illness and Not Your Fault,” on Monday, March 14, at 7 p.m. in Jansen Music Hall on the Clarke campus. The lecture will be presented by John Feeney. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
Feeney is a local resident who has lived and dealt with bi-polar disorder for the past 25 years. He has volunteered in New York, Pennsylvania, and in the tri-state and offers insight for those studying, living with, or who are affected by bi-polar disorder. Feeney holds a bachelor of arts degree in finance from Loras College and has earned credits toward a master in business administration from the College of Dubuque.
The Danielle Pierce Memorial Lecture was established in memory of Clarke biology major Danielle Pierce, who suffered from bi-polar disorder. Each year the lecture, which deals with the subject of depression, is funded by an allocation from the Clarke Student Association.
