The Clarke College Arts at Clarke Gold Series will host a performance by violin and accordion duo Mazaika on Tuesday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. on the Clarke campus. Admission is $5 and ticket reservations begin Tuesday, March 1, by calling (563)584-8642 weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Mazaika is an unusual and versatile duo performing a variety of classical and folk music through the magic of the violin and accordion. The duo was formed in 1997 and continues to travel the world giving concerts and cabaret performances in theaters and at festivals throughout the world. According to an audience member, “I have seen…nothing as original, vibrant and fascinating as your [performance].”

The duo’s violinist, Sarah Harrison, was trained as a classical violinist at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Accordion player Igor Outkine studied classical accordion and traditional singing in his native country of Russia, where he performed extensively with top folk groups and as a musician and actor with the Rozovsky Theatre of Moscow.
