Clarke Alumni Board President Dies Following Automobile Accident

Clarke College Alumni Board President Kyle Andersen ’98 died on Saturday, May 26, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident the previous day. The accident occurred in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he and his wife, Molly Junk Andersen ’99, were living with their three children: 3-year-old Margaret Elizabeth (Maggie) and 15-month-old twins, Jacob Andrew and Maria Kathleen. Andersen was 30 years old.

Andersen was born on June 15, 1976, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Wayne “Andy” and Beth Andersen. In 1994, he graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School, where he was completing his first year as one of the school’s assistant principals. He graduated from Clarke in 1998 with his bachelor’s degree in history, and in 2004 completed a master’s degree in educational administration from Loras College.

He taught and coached at St. Edmond’s in Fort Dodge from 1998-2000; at Marquette High School in Bellevue, Iowa, from 2000-2002; and Dubuque Senior High School from 2002-2006.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Friends may also call from 1-4 p.m. on Thursday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dubuque where funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Key West, Iowa.
