What is your favorite part of your academic major at Clarke and why?
The education professors are incredibly helpful. And working with so many diverse groups of people is also very gratifying. I love English because I enjoy reading into things and finding the message.
What has been your favorite Clarke experience on the campus life side and why?
I love all the events that happen on campus -- whether it's the Playmakers, a speaker or just browsing through the art gallery, there's always something fun to do.
What is your favorite thing to do with your friends or roommate?
My friends and I like hanging out in each other's rooms, talking and doing homework. It's always a good time when we're all together. We love snacking on popcorn drizzled with marshmallow.
What would you tell a high school friend to encourage him or her to choose Clarke?
I'd tell them that the relationships you build at Clarke are amazing and make your college experience so much richer than at other schools. Everyone is a big family, and no one will ever tell you they aren't willing to help you. Also, if it's raining, snowing or cold, you don't have to go outside!
What's the best piece of advice you would give next year's freshmen?
Don't be afraid of new things! College can seem really scary at first, but there are so many people who are willing to help you through your transition.
What are you passionate about personally? What do you really enjoy?
I love reading, writing and volunteering. If I get an opportunity to combine all three, I'm especially happy! Reading is such an important thing to success in any career, and the same goes for writing. Volunteering teaches people how to interact with others and treat others with respect. Getting the chance to help others read and write is an especially fun type and useful type of volunteering. I also write poetry, short fiction and am working on completing my novel!
