Professional experience: 27 years teaching fourth and fifth grades; seven years in the Education Department at Clarke

Teaching philosophy: My teaching philosophy is to create a learning environment in my classroom that incorporates research-based instructional strategies that address the full range of cognitive skills and demonstrates flexibility to meet all student needs. I believe in engaging students in varied experiences that promote social, emotional and academic growth.

Clarke’s impact on Nancy: The past seven years at Clarke University have reinforced my belief that I am a lifelong learner. The challenge of teaching numerous courses has forced me to study and grow and continue to learn!

Nancy’s impact on students: I believe my impact on students is teaching life skills, with an emphasis on acquiring balance in their busy lives as educators. I teach the importance of “self” time, so they can continue to be energetic and compassionate teachers for many years!
