Teaching philosophy: The core of my philosophy is to engage students with critical thinking and technical ability. Projects in three-dimensional courses explore contemporary art themes through a variety of approaches. I am an effective professor because I have a deep understanding of the discipline rooted in experience, as well as knowledge of art history, contemporary art, and theory. My students are encouraged to take risks to lead to discover of artistic values.

Clarke’s impact on Jessica: Given the small class sizes, one-on-one time is abundant. This results in strong connections with students. Most alumni from the three-dimensional program stay in contact and we meet up occasionally for coffee!

Jessica’s impact on students: As a professor, I am responsible to set the tone for every class time. Approaching course content with excitement adds to an energetic atmosphere. As a teaching artist, I share insights into the practices of a working artist. Through my dedication and accomplishments, students are inspired to find their artistic voice.
