Shaun Bowman

Assistant Professor of Biology
Office: 146 G CSI
Mail Stop: 1741
Phone: 6623

Degrees earned: M.S. and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences

Professional experience: Shaun has previously taught and done molecular biology research at a number of colleges and universities in Buffalo, N.Y.

Teaching philosophy: I encourage students to become active participants in their own learning, emphasizing cooperative learning and critical thinking throughout a course. I also attempt to relate the coursework to the students’ lives and future career aspirations, while having a lot of fun along the way.

Clarke’s impact on Shaun: Clarke has provided me the opportunity to work closely with students, as well as other faculty and staff. Whether in a lecture or lab, the class sizes are small enough to allow individualized attention and interaction, yet large enough to promote discussion and the exchange of different ideas and viewpoints.

Shaun’s impact on students: My goal is to provide students with the tools they need for success. I hope that my students view me as approachable and always willing to offer my time or a bad joke.

Shaun’s favorite:

Book Any one that is short and has lots of pictures. A high picture-to-text ratio is key. Just kidding. I actually enjoy reading anything science-related (including textbooks!).
