(Client—John Deere Corporate); solid waste/environmental educator, Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency/Dubuque County; faculty member, University of Dubuque.

Teaching philosophy: Teaching is the act of helping others gain the mindset necessary to learn. That mindset might include skills, knowledge and motivation. Recognizing and shifting my own perspective to acknowledge and understand student perspectives requires that I slow down, think and listen before I begin.

Clarke’s impact on Rachel: Clarke gives me the opportunity to engage in meaningful work every day. Through my work I have made lasting professional relationships and friendships with my colleagues.

Rachel’s impact on students: I ask students to grow and to learn how to learn. I encourage them to contribute meaningfully to society.
