Kylie's Teaching Philosophy:
I want to give students as much hands-on, real world experience as possible. In most classes students work with local businesses and non-profits to create projects they can use to showcase the skills they have learned in public relations and advertising. I believe in challenging students and therefore teaching them to challenge themselves. I don't want students to just memorize vocabulary terms and other facts, I want them to learn skills and values that they can put to use in real life.

Kylie's Greatest Clarke Experience:
My greatest Clarke experience occurs whenever I hear from former students. I love it when they say they actually use what I taught them! Sometimes they are going on to get their masters and that's exciting too. I enjoy hearing how far they've come.

Clarke's Impact on Kylie:
When I first came to Clarke I didn't know that I would enjoy teaching as much as I do. The students and the relationships that you build with them are what really make this a great College and an enjoyable career.

Kylie's Impact on Students:
I'd like to think that I've impacted each student in some way. I hope that students learn that nothing is more valuable than real world experience. I encourage internships - we have some great connections with local businesses.

Why Kylie Chose Clarke:
I chose Clarke because of the small class sizes - I'm able to get to know each student and help them one-on-one. The tight-knit classes also allow students to work as teams and really learn from each other.

Why students should choose Clarke:
The Clarke communication department gives students hands-on experience in journalism, public relations and advertising. With smaller class sizes we're able to help students advance the skills they need to get the job they want.

What Kylie enjoys about Dubuque:
I am from Dubuque, but I never thought I'd still be here today. Dubuque has changed a lot since I was young and there is so much more for families to do. It's a great place to raise your children - you couldn't pay me to leave Dubuque now!

Kylie's Favorites:
One of my favorite quotes is "Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it...boldness has genius, power and magic in it."
