Degrees earned: Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Performance- Western Michigan University; Master of Fine Arts – The Alabama Shakespeare Festival/University of Alabama.

Professional experience: Productions with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, HERE Theater of New York, The Barn Theater (Michigan). Joe has performed in and directed productions locally at the Heartland Festival (Platteville, Wis.) and at the Grand Opera House in Dubuque.

Teaching philosophy: I believe in cultivating a classroom in which students embrace risk and feel the freedom to create, fail, and create again!

Clarke’s impact on Joe: The warm sense of family shared by the faculty, staff and students has helped me to be the best that I can be for the students. This caring environment, one that fosters relationships and the pursuit of knowledge, has helped enrich me as a teacher and as a human being.

Joe’s impact on students: I am exceedingly proud to see how my contribution to the experience of students has played a positive role in their journey into the next phases of their lives.
