Clarke Faculty Members Featured in Simpson College Exhibit
Two Clarke College art faculty members have their work on display at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, now through April 10 in the College’s Farnham Galleries. The exhibit features recent works by Louise Kames, professor of art, and Tom Metcalf, instructor of art. Kames’ exhibited drawings of organic forms include a series of 10 pastel and charcoal drawings of the amaryllis plant and the etchings reference medieval women’s mystical writings. Metcalf’s paintings include realistic images of the human form, especially faces, showing emotion and expressing the toll life has taken on the subject. Also on view are three paintings from his Butte series, depicting the desolated landscape in and around Butte, Montana. An opening for the exhibit will be held on Friday, March 30, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the galleries.
