Degrees earned: Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration.

Professional experience: Prior to coming to Clarke, B’Ann had a 19 -year career in banking, starting as a teller in college and working her way up through the ranks serving in a variety of positions, to ultimately become the president of U.S. Bank in the Galena and Dubuque markets, with responsibility for 11 locations and 85 employees. She also taught as an adjunct faculty member at University of Wisconsin-Platteville and Columbia College while working at the bank.

Teaching philosophy: I always tell my students “You won’t find anyone who wants to be in the classroom, more than I do.” I enjoy interacting with students and getting to know each student as an individual. In the classroom, I utilize active learning techniques and allow students to dig into the material, whether it is in a simulation, classroom activities, projects or case studies, so they can develop critical thinking skills and become prepared for their career.

Clarke’s impact on B’Ann: I enjoy everything about working at Clarke! The faculty, staff and students are amazing. I find that being at Clarke is inspiring in many ways. There are so many success stories and great things happening. I am energized by the teaching and learning that is happening every day. There is always something new to be discovered, people to meet, stories to listen to, and to be told. Everyone has the best interests of others in mind and people genuinely care about each other and the work that they do. I love that there is a spiritual aspect woven into all aspects at Clarke and that everyone can be their true self, and find ways to make their own personal mark on the world.

B’Ann’s impact on students: I hope that my impact on students is that they know that I have their best interests at heart and that I care about them. I try to mentor students inside and outside of the classroom to help them reach their personal and professional goals. Serving as the co-advisor for Future Young Professionals also allows me to help students to learn, grow, and prepare for their careers.
