Teaching philosophy: It is human nature to be curious about our bodies and the living world around us. It is my goal to create a classroom environment that encourages that curiosity. By providing students with background knowledge about the living world, they are better prepared to ask meaningful questions and explore those questions through seeking answers. I like to remind students that it’s the questions they can’t answer that sometimes end up teaching them the most.

Clarke’s impact on Laura: I am constantly reminded that, as part of the Clarke community, every person has the opportunity to make a positive impact on a daily basis. I think the consequences of those daily actions are easy to see in the small community here.

Laura’s impact on students: I try to remind students to keep their end goals in sight but that it is the process of how they get there that they should concern themselves with most.
