Fletcher Lamkin

Following a vote from the Board of Trustees, Dr. Fletcher Lamkin will become the 17th President of Clarke University. Fletch has been serving as Interim President for the past 18 months.

“Clarke’s rich history and inspirational mission, vision, and values make it a special and unique resource for the region and the State of Iowa,” Fletch said. “As President, I believe we can realize success by collaboratively leading Clarke’s extraordinary people and provide a strong foundation of student success, financial wellness, and stable enrollments.”

During his tenure as Interim President, Fletch oversaw the development of Clarke’s new strategic plan, as well as the initiation of a capital campaign to sustain the university well into the future. His focus on clear and consistent communication has allowed him to build a positive rapport with the Board of Trustees and the entire Clarke community.

“With over 40 years of academic experience in various institutions, Fletch has a unique approach to leadership and service. We are confident that he will continue to promote progress for the university,” said Chair of the Board of Trustees, Carolyn Haupert.

Prior to coming to Clarke, Fletch most recently served as President at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri from 2017-2020. There he led a series of strategic reforms impacting fiscal management, academic programming, enrollment management, student retention, faculty and staff retention, endowment management, Alumni and Board relations, marketing and communications, and facilities maintenance and development.
