Service & Volunteer
The Gift of Giving
Service learning combines learning goals and community service to enhance both student growth and the common good. Being active in service learning enhances your education, gives back to the community, builds networking connections, and helps with career development.
Clarke University is a member of Iowa Campus Compact, a coalition of college and university presidents committed to fostering in students the values and skills of civic engagement, through active involvement in community service and service learning. Iowa Campus Compact is a part of a national consortium of universities and colleges, dedicated to advancing higher education’s civic mission by effectively building civic learning into campus and academic life.
Some of the goals of Iowa Campus Compact are to strengthen existing community service and service learning and to develop new civic engagement initiatives and collaborative service efforts among educational institutions, community organizations, and non-profit organizations across the state.
Into the Streets
Into the Streets enables students to meet new people and connect with the larger Dubuque community. Volunteers do everything from cleaning, painting, and yard work to visiting with residents of retirement homes. The experience is a memorable one for participants and integral to the university mission. We are proud to have wonderful student participation in this event.
