Clarke Students Organize Day of Service
On Saturday, October 25, Clarke students went “Into the Streets” for a morning of service.
Under the direction of Clarke Campus Ministry, dozens of students volunteered their time and talents at 10 organizations throughout the area, including Area Residential Care, Mary’s Inn, Dubuque County Conservation, National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, and more.
“’Into the Streets’ is an important part of the Clarke experience because it opens students’ eyes to the world around them,” said Campus Ministry Graduate Assistant McKenzie Nodolf ’25, ’27DPT. “Whether you are volunteering individually or with a team, there is power in coming together for a common goal. It unites us, while also expressing gratitude for all we have.”
Prior to groups heading to their assigned locations, volunteers gathered in the Student Activity Center for a prayer, breakfast, and an overview of the day’s events led by McKenzie and Director of Campus Ministry Rick Rupprecht.
“I am so grateful for the work McKenzie and all the students have put into this event,” Rick said. “We live our Clarke Core Values every day, and this is a powerful way to share those values with the greater community.”
While “Into the Streets” is a signature event for Campus Ministry, they offer many other opportunities for students to explore their faith and commitment to the common good. They offer mass twice a week in Sacred Heart Chapel, as well as morning prayer, Bible studies, and events in the Foley Lounge.
Additionally, Rick and his team are planning a mission trip to St. Louis, Missouri over spring break, March 8-12. Students interested in getting involved can email Rick for details at rick.rupprecht@clarke.edu.
