‘Into the Streets’ Day of Service set for October 24

Clarke University students, faculty, and staff will head “Into the Streets” on Saturday, October 24, for the university’s annual day of service. The event brings the Clarke community together to volunteer with nonprofit organizations throughout Dubuque, continuing a tradition that has spanned more than 20 years.

Participants will donate their time and skills to eight local organizations: Friends of Dubuque Parks, New Hope Farm, Mary’s Inn, Dubuque and Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Dubuque Regional Humane Society, Camp Albrecht Acres, National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, and Hills & Dales. This year’s volunteers include members of Clarke women’s soccer, men’s lacrosse, and men’s volleyball teams. Employees from the Haas administration area will also participate as a team for the first time.

“Campus Ministry offers various opportunities for students to explore their faith and commitment to the common good,” said Rick Rupprecht, Director of Campus Ministry. “Into the Streets and the Kutchera Service Trip are two important ways we do this.”

As Clarke’s largest service event of the year, “Into the Streets” gives participants the opportunity to live out the university’s core values of charity and justice. By working alongside local nonprofit organizations, students, faculty, and staff can learn more about the greater Dubuque community, build meaningful connections, and make a difference through hands-on service.
