Senior Spotlight: Joshua M.
By Jazz Daughtrey ’27, Marketing Intern
Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, Joshua is a Computer Science major whose journey to Dubuque began with inspiration from his sister and a passion for the major’s broad opportunities. Arriving on campus, he started from scratch, rebuilding his community and finding his place. Joshua is a Resident Assistant and an active campus leader, serving on the boards of Future Young Professionals and Mackin and Mailander. One of his proudest moments came at Track & Field Conference Finals, where despite both legs cramping right out of the blocks, he pushed through to finish and support his team.
After graduation, Joshua plans to work in IT management in Washington, D.C., with the goal of adding value wherever he can. He hopes to be remembered as someone who asked questions and made meaningful contributions. His advice to freshmen: “There is a hidden syllabus for school that requires attention too; college is more than just academics. Pay attention to relationships, both horizontal and vertical. Do more than just school, live!”
