Interaction and engagement. Build trust and relationships. Appreciate and support the whole student, not just the student’s understanding of the course material. All of these contribute toward retention, wellness, and the likelihood that a student will share the same compassion with someone else.
I have worked as a physical therapist in numerous states and settings for over 20 years. As is typical, my curiosities and interests have evolved over my career. My areas of expertise are in the worker’s compensation/industrial safety realm as well as management and compliance in the world of billing and outpatient therapy. My interests are in industrial safety, wellness, non-spinal chronic pain, and working with the independent and assisted living populations. Teaching has often been a professional requirement for me, so I have been prepping for this point in my career for years!
