Clarke to Present “An Evening of Irish One Acts.”

 Clarke University’s Drama Department will present “An Evening of Irish One Acts.”Performances are scheduled for Thursday, April 10, through Saturday, April 12, at 7:30 each night; and Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. All performances are at Terence Donaghoe Hall on the Clarke campus. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for non-Clarke students.The Irish One Acts include John Millington Synge’s “Riders to the Sea” and “In the Shadow of the Glen.”“Riders to the Sea” deals with a mother’s conflict with nature as she attempts to save her sons from the sea. It features Valerie Heitzman, of Dubuque, as Maurya; Lily Rottinghaus, of Jesup, Iowa, as Nora; Traci Johnson, of Dubuque, as Cathleen; Will Schwalb, of Dubuque, as Bartley; and Evan Heil and Colin Niemer, both of Dubuque, Brenna Burgart, of New Hampton, Iowa, and Fernanda Carrasco, of Chicago, and the mourners.“In the Shadow of the Glen” is a comedy dealing with an elderly husband who fakes his own death to test the fidelity of his wife.
