Save the Date for ‘Clarke Night’ at Dimensional

By Megan Hinderman  |  November 1, 2023

On Thursday, November 16, Dimensional Brewing Company will host “Clarke Night” from 5-9 p.m. Members of the Clarke Admissions team and CU Linked will be serving as guest bartenders for the evening, with 100 percent of all tips going to purchase essentials for students in need. This is also a family-friendly event, as Clarke students will provide childcare in the Dimensional event center.

“The admissions staff wants to help ensure new students start their college experience with their essential needs met, especially those living in the residence halls away from home,” said Julie Cirks, Vice President for Enrollment Management. “These funds will allow us some flexibility to assist with meeting immediate needs if something is forgotten or not thought of during packing and family is not around to assist.”

The evening will also feature live music from local favorite Mark Zalaznik ’18 from 6-8 p.m. Mark will be a familiar face to many in the Clarke community, after earning a degree in elementary education from Clarke in 2018. He now balances teaching at Seton Catholic School in Farley, Iowa, with performing a collection of country and rock favorites across the tri-states. He’s even had the opportunity to open for national touring acts like Travis Tritt, Kip Moore, and others.

Funds raised from Clarke Night will build on existing services provided by CU Linked, a group led by the Clarke Social Work department. Through CU Linked, students have increased access to transportation, food, and micro grants to cover unexpected expenses. With Clarke welcoming students from 41 states and 26 countries for the 2023-2024 school year, CU Linked offers a lifeline for students far away from home for the first time.

For those who are unable to attend but would still like to support the cause financially or by purchasing new products like laundry supplies, unopened bedding (extra-long sheets), desk supplies, and other essentials for students in need, please contact the Mackin Office of Institutional Advancement by email at development@clarke.edu or phone at (888) 225-2753 and they will be happy to assist you.
