Ellen's Teaching Philosophy:
I believe that students learn through inquiry and a constructivist approach. When learners discover something without explicitly being told, they are much more likely to retain information.
Ellen's Professional Involvement:
I am a member of National Association of Professional Development Schools, American Educational Research Association, and National Science Teachers Association.
I am also currently working on my doctorate in curriculum and instruction.
Clarke's Impact on Ellen:
The overall community is absolutely fabulous. Everyone is friendly, helpful and caring. I have never worked in such a wonderful environment before.
Why Ellen Chose Clarke:
I choose Clarke because of the strong reputation it has for teacher education. The Professional Development Schools are amazing and the absolute best way for an education major to learn to teach.
Ellen's Tie to Dubuque:
My mother was born and raised here in Dubuque. She is a Clarke graduate ('61) and my father is a Loras graduate. I remember coming to Dubuque as a child for almost every holiday and loving it here.
