Global Awareness and Social Responsibility
Global awareness and social responsibility encourages you to look beyond yourself and your own culture and understand perspectives outside of them. Whether you are fortunate enough to study abroad, support a local mission, or attend a training session on inclusivity, you are learning to understand and appreciate diversity. Diversity could include race, age, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and socio-economic status. Having gained this deeper understanding of others, you’ll be better prepared to interact with all walks of life as well as address local and global issues.
Examples of Global Awareness and Social Responsibility:
- Study abroad
- Community service
- Mission trips
- Complete approved courses (e.g., Psychology of Women, Environmental Literature, World Religions, Global Perspectives in Sport)
- Spend time with the BVM Sisters at Mt. Carmel
