Professional Licensure and Certification Disclosures

Clarke University has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. For further details regarding Clarke’s SARA membership, please visit Clarke’s State Authorization website. SARA requires universities to disclose to applicants and students whether programs that lead to professional licensure/certification meet licensure/certification requirements in the student’s home state.

A limited number of undergraduate and graduate Clarke programs prepare students for licensure. The undergraduate programs include elementary and secondary education, nursing, and social work. The graduate programs include athletic training, nursing, physical therapy, and social work.

Elementary and Secondary Education

Clarke University’s Department of Education undergraduate programs in elementary and secondary education meet the educational requirements for most US States and territories. Please consult the Education Professional Licensure Disclosure link below for additional information. Please contact the Education Department at education@clarke.edu with any questions. Department of Nursing and Health

Clarke University’s Department of Nursing and Health provides two major programs of study – the Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). The DNP includes Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, starting post-BSN to DNP or Post Masters to DNP.

For the BSN Program, Clarke University Department of Nursing and Health meets all licensing criteria for academic preparation and to qualify for the NCLEX exam required for RN licensure in the states our students list as home states (California, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Wisconsin, and Wyoming). This list was complete as of July 6, 2022.

For the DNP Program, Clarke University Department of Nursing and Health meets all licensing criteria for educational preparation and to qualify for national APRN certification for APRN licensure application in the states our students list as home states (Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin). This list was complete as of July 6, 2022.

Physical Therapy

Clarke University’s Department of Physical Therapy meets all licensing criteria for academic preparation and qualifies students to sit for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). Passing the NPTE exam enables students to apply for licensure or registration in the states our students list as home states. As of June 29, 2020, Clarke students listed Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin as home states.

Social Work

Clarke University’s Department of Social Work meets all licensing criteria for academic preparation and to sit for the Bachelors and Masters licensing exams offered by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). Some states, such as California and Wisconsin, require additional exams on state laws and ethics. New Mexico requires coursework in New Mexico cultures. As of June 29, 2020, Clarke students listed California, Minnesota, New Mexico, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin as home states.
