Nicholas J. Schrup Library

The Nicholas J. Schrup Library is your pathway to tremendous resources and services at Clarke University. Our dedicated staff will work alongside you to find, evaluate, and use information efficiently and effectively.

With the support of our friendly librarians, the library offers a wide array of services to our students, faculty, and staff. Members of the Clarke community have access to our online catalog, as well as extensive databases, interlibrary loan services, and other resources for academic or personal research. We can even assist with reserves for courses, saving you money on textbooks purchases throughout the year. Additionally, the library manages a short term and long term laptop rental program supported by the IT Department, as well as audio visual equipment that is available for rental.

A Gathering Place

The library serves many different functions within the Clarke community, from a gathering space to quiet study and test preparation. The following are just a few of the options available:

  • Quiet Study Spaces
  • Group Study Spaces
  • Instructional Resource Center
  • Computer Labs & Printing Services
  • Library Help Desk
  • University Archives

Just two floors down from the library, students will find the Academic Support Center, which includes Academic Advising, Accessibility Services, the Writing Center, and Career Services. Staff here are also happy to assist students with any academic needs.

Serving the Dubuque Community

Thanks to our participation in the State Library of Iowa’s Open Access Program, anyone who lives in the state of Iowa may check out books and DVDs with a valid form of identification, such as a driver’s license. This also extends to the faculty, staff, and students of all Dubuque area colleges, members of the BVM order, Diocesan and Archdiocesan Clergy and personnel. The public also has access to our University Archive, which you may view online or schedule an appointment to view materials in person.

SEARCH THE CATALOG

Please note, Dubuque and local community members are only able to check out books that we have in our collection. E-books, and journal articles are not available to non Clarke students, faculty or staff.
