A long-time favorite of the Dubuque community, the Clarke University Golf Classic returns on Monday, June 3. The 36th annual golf outing will span two courses, offering more opportunities for area golfers and friends of Clarke to participate.

Foursomes may now choose from an 11 a.m. tee time Dubuque Golf & Country Club or 10:30 a.m. at the General course at Eagle Ridge Golf Resort & Spa in Galena, Illinois. Both options offer a shotgun start and the camaraderie the event is known for. Following golf, all participants are invited to Clarke University for a steak dinner accompanied by a program and auction.

“The Clarke Golf Classic is just that—a classic in every sense of the word,” said planning committee member Dan Rank. “This outing is a tradition combining old friends with new friends in a fun environment, topped-off with a great dinner raising money for a good cause.”

Supporting Student Athletes

Clarke’s Institutional Advancement Office and the Athletics Office are co-sponsoring this year’s event, which is a return to tradition.

“In 2023, the Clarke University Golf Classic Scholarship reached full endowment, meaning it can sustain itself in perpetuity. That allowed us to explore new fundraising opportunities,” said Bob Largent, Development Officer for Clarke University and coordinator of the event. “The first Golf Classic raised funds to build the Kehl Center, so reigniting the partnership with Athletics brings the golf outing full circle.”

All proceeds from the event will support improvements to the Robert & Ruth Kehl Center, including an expansion of Clarke’s Athletic Training facilities. Additionally, the Athletics Office seeks to enhance the Allendorf Classroom, which doubles as a study space for student-athletes and a venue for watching game tapes and scouting reports.

Outside of golfing in the event, local businesses and individuals can offer their support through sponsorships. Options include naming and signage opportunities on beverage carts,  putting greens, driving ranges, and more.
