Clarke University Hosts Eighth Annual Dance Marathon
Clarke University invites one and all to take part in its eighth annual Dance Marathon event on Saturday, April 15. From 1-9 p.m. students, families, and anyone in the community are welcome to the Kehl Center to dance for the kids and join us in raising funds for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
Clarke University Dance Marathon joins hundreds of events hosted throughout the country as part of the Children’s Miracle Network. Clarke’s event will include Zumba, inflatables, games, and other entertainment for children and families who want to show their support off the dance floor as well. The Clarke University Cheer and Dance team will also offer free face painting.
As part of the event, attendees will have the chance to meet and celebrate the five area families Clarke dances for, whose children have or are currently undergoing treatment at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
“I’m a Nursing major, so joining Dance Marathon seemed like a great way to get involved in the community and add meaning to the work I’ll be doing in the field,” said Katie McGrane, a sophomore from Manchester, Iowa. “To see the kids dancing and having a good time even after all they’ve been through makes it a very rewarding and fun event.”
To date, Clarke has raised over $90,000 through its Dance Marathon events. This includes year-round fundraising held by students, such as bake sales, game nights, and other activities leading up to the big event each year.
