Housing Requirements

On-Campus Residency Requirement
As a residential University, Clarke University believes that education is not confined to the academic classroom. Rather, liberal learning is enhanced through the sense of community, which occurs when students live and study on campus. The University is committed to establishing the continuity between intellectual and residential life. Living on campus contributes to the intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual growth of the individual as well as to the other students who compose that living unit.
The University requires matriculating undergraduate students under the age of 21 to live in the residence halls.
Exceptions to this policy are made for students who are married, responsible for the care of dependents, or commuter students living locally (within a 30 mile radius) with their parents (or legal guardians). Students must complete the Off Campus Housing Request form during the admissions process to be considered for this exemption. Students who are twenty-one years of age may choose to live on or off campus; students must already be 21 or turn 21 within the semester in which they intend to live off campus.
