Gifts that Go Beyond Clarke Day

As both the Director of Alumni Relations and a proud alumna, Clarke Day is an incredibly meaningful occasion for me. It is a powerful reminder of the generosity of the Clarke community from campus activities with current students, to alumni proudly wearing their blue and gold in the community and even showing their support through gifts and donations. Clarke Day showcases the many ways our community comes together.
While this Clarke Day has a tremendous financial impact on the future of Clarke University. It also exemplifies the core value of charity, bringing together alumni, students, faculty, and friends in a shared spirit of celebration, connection, and support —no matter where they are. This spirit of togetherness is something that unites the Clarke community no matter what day it is. With that in mind, I want to highlight a few of the ways you can show your Clarke Pride year-round.
Attend Alumni Events
Each year, Clarke is proud to host free and low-cost events that bring our community together. These can vary from group outings across the country for baseballs games or musicals, to campus and community events right here in Dubuque and the tri-states. One of our all-time favorites is of course our Homecoming celebrations, which are a great time to reconnect with all things Clarke. Homecoming 2025 is set for October 17-19 and we hope to see you there! Make sure to bookmark our Alumni Events page and visit frequently to stay informed of this and many other fun events. We are also happy to take event suggestions at alumnirelations@clarke.edu.
Volunteer with Students
Connections are what make a Clarke education special. Often, those connections come from alumni and friends like you sharing opportunities with students and faculty. There are a range of ways to get involved, and our Alumni Relations team partners with other campus groups to make this possible. One example is offering resume feedback and mock interviews during Grad Finale or through our Career Services Office, or even establishing internships or job shadow opportunities. If you have a more specific area of knowledge or experience to share, we can connect you to specific classes, like Kunkel & Associates recently creating a final project contest for our Leadership Management class. As the Director of Alumni Relations, I can match you to the opportunity that is right for you.
Spread the Good Word
Word-of-mouth has always been and remains one of the most powerful ways to share the Clarke story. Whether that means sharing stories from the Clarke newsroom, on social media, submitting a class note, or simply talking about your own Clarke experience with friends and family, those connections make an impact. By sharing that story with a high school or transfer student considering Clarke, you could make the impact even greater. The CARE Society acknowledges alumni who foster Clarke connections like this, even offering scholarships to students who find their way to Clarke through an alumna/us.
Thank you for all you do for your alma mater! With your support, we can celebrate every day like it’s Clarke Day!
