Clarke Love Stories: Finding the Peanut Butter to Your Jelly

By Clarke News  |  February 14, 2025

Incredible friendships are a hallmark of the college experience. For a lucky few, like Breanna Judkins ’20, ’22DPT  and Joshua Sanchez ’20, it is also the time when they met their forever person. In honor of Valentine’s Day 2025, we’re sharing their story.

How did you meet?

Breanna: There is some debate about that! I think we met during CONNECT weekend, but we met so many people that weekend, Josh isn’t sure. We really got to know each other because we were both on the Track & Field team. I remember inviting him over to my residence hall for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich after practice and telling a friend I thought he could be a good friend. Here we are almost eight years later, together, married, and happy!

Other than sharing the occasional peanut butter and jelly, how did you enjoy your time at Clarke together?

Breanna: I was a double major in Psychology and Physical Therapy and he was a double major in Sport Management and Business Administration, so our classes didn’t overlap much. Outside of class though, we were inseparable. Clarke played a huge part in our relationship, as well as our professional and spiritual lives.

Where has life taken you since your time at Clarke?

Breanna: After graduating in 2020, I started PT school and Josh started his career. Eventually, we moved back to my home state of Wisconsin. We rented for a few years and have now been able to buy our own home! We also adopted a cat in 2023, found a church that we love being involved in, and got married on September 20, 2024. As a couple we are hoping to continue putting work into our home to make it ours and, if we are so blessed, to hopefully expand our family within the next few years.

As we move forward, Clarke still plays an important role in our lives. We have gone to Homecoming every year since graduation to see the campus, support Clarke, and get together with friends that we have not seen in a while. Josh also recently joined the Alumni Association Board and we’ve both enjoyed staying more connected to campus.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Josh & Breanna!
