International Student Checklist

TB Screening

All international students beginning studies at Clarke are required to visit the Health Services office within the first month on campus for a Tuberculosis screening.

The following are two checklists that should be read over carefully. The information is beneficial to your successful planning and arrival at Clarke University.

Pre-Departure Checklist
  1. Arrive on campus by Thursday, August 20, 2026.
  2. CONNECT New student Orientation is scheduled on August 20-23 for first-year students, and on August 21 for transfer students. It is required of all new undergraduate students.
  3. When arranging your travel, please book your flight into Eastern Iowa Airport (CID). From there, you can take the Anaman Concierge Service shuttle bus from Cedar Rapids to Dubuque. To reserve your seat, use this link and complete the online booking form with your Clarke email address to qualify for the discounted student rate of $35 one way.
  4. Please fill out this form here with your travel information so that we are ready for your arrival. Provide your airline information and flight numbers. We can help you get to campus from the Dubuque Regional Airport.
  5. Make sure your passport and visa are current and valid. You must make an appointment to see Alicia Schmitt, Associate Director of Admissions and International Student Services and Primary Designated School Official for International students, within two days of your arrival to campus. Bring your I-20 and passport to this meeting.
  6. Travel hints: Label all luggage, inside and out, with your name and university address. Bring pictures of family and friends to decorate your room; you’ll feel more at home that way. Pack a small carry-on bag with personal articles, in case your luggage is temporarily lost. Carry any large amounts of money in the form of traveler’s checks rather than cash. Give your family a contact person, such as your admissions representative or the student life office at (563)588-6313, in case they have questions or concerns.
  7. If you plan to ship items by mail from home, plan to mail your packages so that they are delivered after you have arrived at Clarke. Make sure to include your name on the inside and outside of the packages. You should address all packages in this manner:

Arriving and Settling In

  1. Check in with the Student Life office as soon as possible upon arrival to Clarke to schedule a meeting with Alicia Schmitt for paperwork.
  2. Attend CONNECT New Student Orientation. You’ll make new friends faster and learn important information about college life.
  3. Alicia Schmitt can arrange to take you shopping for anything you need to buy and to a local bank to set up an account.
