The Impact of #ClarkeDay 2023

By Clarke News  |  April 14, 2023

From noon on March 22 to 7 p.m. on March 23, Clarke hosted its ninth annual #ClarkeDay event in honor of the university’s founding. Through a series of in-person and online events, 516 Clarke students, graduates, employees, and friends raised over $160,000 to support campus initiatives.

“It is wonderful to see this outpouring of support, both in our community and from afar,” said Executive Director of Development Courtney Leonard. “We received gifts from as far as Hawaii and Greece, while also seeing the Clarke spirit on display closer to home as well, with individuals, local businesses and organizations proudly sharing their alumni experience. It truly takes a village and we are grateful to all who participated.”

This year, #ClarkeDay also included a series of generous matching gifts and challenges from alumni and area partners, including John Kiefer, the Clarke University Alumni Association Board, Kay McTigue Filice ’70, and Kunkel & Associates. Additionally, we want to offer a special thank you to Jubeck New World Brewing for hosting a #ClarkeDay social on March 22. A great time was had by all in attendance.

During the annual fundraising event, the university highlights seven key areas that contribute to the student experience, such as academic programs, athletics, or enrichment programming. This way, donors could support the cause that resonated most with them. Students even got in on the action, with 95 students playing games or purchasing a special #ClarkeDay T-shirt to support the Student Emergency Fund.

“These funds play a crucial role in not only the continued academic success of our students and faculty, but in Clarke’s ability to serve as a resource and partner throughout our community,” said Bill Biebuyck, Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “We are tremendously grateful to the students, employees, alumni, and friends who show their support of this mission through their generosity.”

The university would like to extend a special thank you to each of the donors who helped make the event a success. If you’d like to join them in supporting the Clarke University mission, please visit clarke.edu/giving.
