Frequently Asked Questions: Students and Families
Q: Will my classes continue this year?
A: Yes. All programs and courses will continue as normal through the 2025-2026 academic year.
Q: What if I am majoring in a program that is closing and I am not graduating in 2026?
A: Faculty advisors will work one-on-one with each student to develop a transition plan.
Q: How does the recent change in presidential leadership impact these decisions?
A: During his tenure as Clarke University’s President, Dr. Fletcher Lamkin laid a strong foundation for implementing strategic initiatives aimed at securing a sustainable future for the institution and its students. Every action taken thus far has been guided by a shared commitment to advancing student success. Acting President Dr. Yvonne Zimmerman, together with the entire leadership team, remains dedicated to building on this momentum and ensuring Clarke is well-positioned for long-term success.
Q: Will Clarke continue to offer a quality experience?
A: Yes. Clarke’s close-knit community, small class environment, and access to caring faculty and staff will remain central to your experience. Several programs will still be represented in general education, such as philosophy, religious studies, and first-year writing. We are also committed to creating co-curricular opportunities in music for our students. High-enrollment programs serving approximately 92% of students will continue.
Q: What support is available to students?
A: Faculty advisors will provide individualized guidance for those in affected programs.
Q: How will this impact athletics?
A: There will be no change to Clarke’s athletic programs or conference participation.
Q: What can I do to have my voice heard in this process?
A: Students are encouraged to share feedback through the Clarke Student Association and directly with university leadership. Clarke’s strength has always come from our community’s collective voice. We also invite students to attend a student forum with university leadership during the CSA meeting on Sunday, 11/2 at 7 p.m.
Q: How will Clarke keep students informed?
A: Clarke will share updates frequently and communicate with clarity and compassion as plans continue to develop.
