Computer Center (IT)

Your Connection to Technology Resources

As a Clarke University student, you will have access to a wide variety of technology tools and trainings to support your academic and professional success. The Computer Center is here to keep it all up and running!

While we have provided an overview of some of the most common topics here, rest assured that we have friendly and helpful staff who can assist you during their time on campus. From learning the key tools for navigating your coursework to ensuring your cybersecurity, our Information Services team is there for you.

Computer Labs

Students have access to 17 computer labs across the campus, and each residence hall has at least one computer lab open 24 hours a day. The labs are composed of a variety of operating systems that typically include MacOS or Windows 10/11.

Wireless Access On-Campus

Student-owned computers, meeting campus network computer requirements, may connect to the campus network to access the internet in residence halls, classrooms, and across campus.

Software and Hardware

Students may choose to purchase their own computer for use at Clarke and connect to the university network. Our Information Services team has created this list of PC Recommendations to aide in your decision making:

  • Hard Drive: 256GB Solid State Drive
  • Networking: Wireless 802.11ax capable
  • Operating System: Windows 10 or 11, or MacOS 10.15 or higher. Chromebooks are NOT recommended.
  • Backup Device or Service: For local backup, an external hard drive with double the size of the internal hard drive or a subscription to a cloud-based backup solution like OneDrive.

Enrolled students will be given a Clarke email account. While essential for their coursework and academic resources, this also grants them access to free or discounted services, such as the following:

Microsoft Office is free for all students, faculty, and staff.

Adobe CREATIVE CLOUD products may be purchased at a discounted monthly subscription price.

Apple also offers the Clarke Community special discounts and offers.

Dell has established a URL for the Clarke community to access Dell’s Member Purchase Program. The program includes discounts on personal purchases (laptops, desktops, and accessories), financing options and free shipping.

Lenovo offers a 6% discount on select commercial-grade devices to the Clarke Community. Additional warranties and accessories are also available.
