Fine Art Scholarships: Music

To audition for a music placement, please register for a Fine Art Showcase Day

Music Major Audition

The audition and interview process for music majors will take approximately 30 minutes. Sheet music needs to be submitted prior to the Fine Art Showcase Day. Send sheet music to Keisy Peyerl Xavier, Assistant Professor of Music – Piano Performance and Collaborative Pianist, at keisy.peyerlxavier@clarke.edu. Please prepare your audition by including the following:

Voice:  Two contrasting selections from the classical art song or aria repertoire.

Instrumental: Two contrasting movements from the classical repertoire.

Piano: Two contrasting movements or pieces from the classical repertoire.

Composition: Bring representative portfolio of composed works. Students are encouraged to do an instrumental or vocal audition as well.

Music Ensemble Participation Placement (non-music majors):

The placement for Ensemble Participation will take approximately 20 minutes and will include both your performance and a short interview with the music faculty. Sheet music needs to be submitted prior to the Fine Art Showcase Day. Send sheet music to Keisy Peyerl Xavier, Assistant Professor of Music – Piano Performance and Collaborative Pianist, at keisy.peyerlxavier@clarke.edu. Please prepare your audition by including the following:

Voice: One selection from the classical or musical theatre repertoire.

Instrumental: One movement from your solo or ensemble repertoire.

What do I need to bring to my audition?
Just music and your instrument, if needed. Sheet music should be submitted prior to the Fine Art Showcase Day. Send sheet music to Keisy Peyerl Xavier, Assistant Professor of Music – Piano Performance and Collaborative Pianist, at keisy.peyerlxavier@clarke.edu.

What should I wear for my audition?
Dress like you would for an interview. 

Where do I check in on the day of my audition?
Check-in at the Atrium at 9:15 a.m. for the Fine Art Showcase Day. 

Where can I warm up before my audition?
The practice rooms in Eliza Kelly Hall (1st floor). 

How many faculty members attend the audition?
Approximately two or three members of the music faculty will attend your audition.

How long should my audition be?
Your audition should take 20-30 minutes.
