International Admissions Process

Are you an international student who wishes to study at Clarke University? We are proud to serve the special needs of international students with a superior education that provides an intensive curriculum. We have over 60 international students. Currently, we have students from Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, El Salvador, England, Germany, Honduras, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, South Africa, Spain, St. Lucia, Thailand, Venezuela, Wales, and Vietnam.

  • Submit the application for admission at least three months before the start of the semester in which you wish to enroll unless you are transferring from another institution within the U.S. We recommend you apply for admissions at least 3 months in advance to process application in a timely manner.
  • Submit an official copy of your high school transcript to Clarke University.
  • Send TOEFL, DUOLINGO, or IELTS scores (if applicable)
    • TOEFL score of 550 PBT, 75 IBT or higher
      • TOEFL school code is 6099
    • DUOLINGO score of 105 for undergraduate admission
    • IELTS score of 6 or better
  • Submit the certificate of finance with a most recent certified bank statement verifying financial ability to attend Clarke University.
    • If your country will be paying for your education, please submit a letter from your advisor verifying that you will be receiving scholarship/funding.

Admission Standards

First-Year Students:

  • Admissions preference is given to those who have a cumulative and core GPA of a 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.
  • Clarke is test-optional; we will provide an admission decision without a test score. This allows applicants the option to either submit or not submit their SAT or ACT scores for the admission process. We believe students should present the most comprehensive picture of their academic and intellectual accomplishments when applying for admission to Clarke. If a student believes their standardized test scores will be valuable supporting information during the review process, then the results may be submitted. Students who feel their high school records alone are a better indicator of their academic achievement and ability may choose to exclude their test scores from their application without penalty.

Transfer Students:

  • To be considered for admission, a student needs at least a 2.0 (4.0 scale).
  • Students must submit transcripts from all institutions attended for admission and academic review. Transcripts will need to showcase forward academic progress and success in core academic coursework.
  • Students with under 24 college credits may be asked to submit a final high school transcript.

After Acceptance

Once you have received a copy of your financial aid award letter and you are 100% ready to commit to Clarke, the following steps need to be taken:

  • Submit the certificate of finance with a most recent certified bank statement verifying financial ability to attend Clarke University.
    • If your country will be paying for your education, please submit a letter from your advisor verifying that you will be receiving scholarship/funding.
  • Submit a copy of your passport.
  • Submit the $200 enrollment deposit. An I-20 will not be issued until the enrollment deposit has been made and all documents have been received.
  • Upon receiving the I-20 certificate, you must do the following steps:

First Year Students

      • TOEFL school code is 6099
    • DUOLINGO score of 95 for undergraduate admission
    • IELTS score of 6.5 or better

Transfer Students

  • Submit an official copy of your college transcripts if transferring from an international institution. If a student-athlete you must have your transcripts evaluated by InCred for eligibility with the NAIA.
  • English proficiency is waived if the following have been completed:
    • Completed ESL program and passed Composition 1 and 2.
    • Completed AA degree.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

Students who need a new I-20

  • Fall Semester Entry Term
    • Must be admitted by July 1
    • Must have certificate of finance completed and be deposited by July 15
  • Spring Semester Entry Term
    • Must be admitted by December 1
    • Must have certificate of finance completed and be deposited by December 15

Students who need to transfer an existing, valid I-20 (typically transferring from a US school)

  • Fall Semester Entry Term
    • Must be admitted & have certificate of finance completed by August 10.
  • Spring Semester Entry Term
    • Must be admitted & have certificate of finance completed by December 20.

Last day to register & arrive 

  • The last day for a new student to register is the second day of classes. New students need to be present by the third day of class. Here is a link to the Academic Calendar for 2023-2024 Academic Year.
